The UT Extension Office in Fentress County offers soil sample testing and soil analysis services year round. If you would like to sample your soil and get a soil analysis, you can visit us Monday-Friday, 7:30- 4:00. Soil sample boxes are available. Soil Sample Instructions
- Pick up a soil sample box from our office or use a plastic bag.
- Take ten composite samples from various locations of the area you are sampling using a probe or shovel. These samples should be taken from 0-6 inches in depth. Make sure the soil is dry.
- Thoroughly mix all of the samples together in a bucket or container and place it in your soil box or bag.
- Label the boxes/bag with your name and the sample id. The sample id will be used to match the sample with your submission sheet in the lab.
- Bring the sample to the UT Extension office at 3553 S. York Hwy. Jamestown, TN 38556, and we will help you fill out the submission sheet, collect the sample fee and mail the sample for you.
- Wait for your soil sample analysis. You’ re results will come via email or US Mail. For questions about your results or if you have trouble accessing your results, please call us at 1 (931) 879-9117.
